Prepare for DAT Exam Day
Know exactly what to expect before you arrive
Locate Your Testing Option
The DAT is administered by the American Dental Association and is taken at authorized Prometric testing centers. Confirm your scheduled test center location in advance and plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Late arrivals may not be admitted, and rescheduling policies may apply.
Know What to Have Ready
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID that exactly matches your DAT registration information. You may be required to complete a check-in process that includes identity verification and security screening. Personal items are not permitted in the testing room, so be prepared to store belongings in designated lockers.
Understand the Format
The DAT consists of four main sections: Survey of the Natural Sciences (Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry), Perceptual Ability, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning. Each section is timed, and the full exam is completed in a single session. Familiarize yourself with the structure and pacing in advance so you can manage time effectively and maintain focus throughout the exam.
